About us
NY Caring Majority is an organization of people with disabilities, older adults, family caregivers, and home care workers.
We are organizing to build a sustainable and just caring economy. We call for greater investments in home and community-based care, as a necessary means to meet our broader goal of dignity, self-determination, access and justice for all.
Our movement’s vision is of a world where care is at the center. We see a world where all of us have the healthcare and home care we need, where and when we need it. And where we show we value care work by praising it and by providing care workers with family-sustaining wages and benefits.

Our history
In 2015, Jews For Racial and Economic Justice and Hand in Hand convened organizations across the state to form the New York Caring Majority coalition. We spent years building political power and growing a base of supporters to fight for investment in home care wages in the state budget and universal access to home care for anyone who needs it in New York. Over the years, we have fought for Fair Pay for Home Care, the New York Health Act, de-privatizing Medicaid home care and saving the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program.
